The week one flow needs to chill a day. Hence why we are here on a glorious Tuesday talking about the beautiful, official games. Sitting a day and reading the news and injury reports… and maybe watch as many of the games as possible is the key. Don’t look at what just happened and chase points. Yes, there are some guys that you should add immediately. That impulse is the reason you should chill. We just saw what they did, are they going to give the same double-digit return that they just did? Will all the forwards from last week not score more than 8 points? The answer to both of those questions is a resounding no. But that doesn’t mean you should make snap decisions and go to an all out defense and punt on the guys up top. Yes, the value for defenders per point return is almost 25% better than the priciest forwards but the CS is a tempestuous beast that lures you in with chocolates and roses, then stands you up on Valentine’s day. Stay the course, as we are literally 2.5% of the way into the season . If you are trailing already, good, you probably should be. Not every decision everyone makes will be prosperous every week. So if you are need of a change for price rise reasons, by all means act on it. If you aren’t we still have a international break in three weeks and banking the transfer to give yourself another week of +fixtures and stats could lead you to a better idea for a mini wildcard in a few weeks. Patience wins the race, but don’t miss the obvious. Here are some of my own transfer ideas and views from what I noticed over the weekend. Cheers!
Benjamin Mendy – Needs to be owned. Gone is the value in the Chelsea duo of Azpi and Alonso. Due to go up and rightfully so. Two assists and looks to be bombing forward in Pep’s system. Worry about the rotation when they start playing more FA Cup games and UCL games. mendy is the number one add easily this week over anyone.
Joe Gomez – Matip’s return isn’t imminent and Lovren has a ding as well. Cheap entries into stout defense is the key to victory, not chasing points.
Jeffrey Schlupp – OOP rules. At fifty cents more than A.A. Ron and playing a more advanced position is sexy as all get out. Palace isn’t the CS team that we think they are, there’s more value in scoring there than goalless affairs.
Callum Wilson – So what he got the PK? He drew the foul to do it. Josh King owners, you gotta show some patience. You rostered him for the first 3-4 games, not the first where it showed that Callum is ok, but not fantastic. So basically what we knew he was.
Gylfi Sigurdsson – The Jagielka PK nuked his game. And everyone that gambled on him, instead of Richarlison, who benefited. Without the Red, who knows what would have happened? Wait another two games. Richarlison is not going to brace every week and he still needs the ball from somebody central.
Jorginho – Will not be on Pk’s when Hazard is on the pitch. 5.0 is tempting and he is still abetter add than Kante.
Roberto Pererya – Love the guy preseason, still love him after 2 goals. He could be a vital player all season, skill has never been the question his only problem is can he stay healthy for over 2200 minutes.
Ruben Neves – Wolves are going to score a lot this year, but will they outscore teams when they have 11 men on the pitch. Neves gets forward and is a great value. But temper expectations, faces three top defenses in next 5 games.
Sergio Aguero – Sell? Maybe, but go to whom? After one game you are going to sell the best goal scoring FPL player on the highest scoring team because Raheem and Bernardo scored instead.
