Sorry for the late post today, I’ve been combatting the interwebz quite delicately since Friday night and as a result missed almost every Prem game this weekend (hurray for replays!)

  • Callum Wilson is my guy – with the Cherries in desperate need of offense, King to Wilson will be the attacking combo they’ve been looking for the rest of the way. Let’s hope Wilson stays healthy, as Eddie Howe is now looking his way for a WC nod if he maintains this form.
  • Niasse might be the first match ban recipient from the new “just say no to diving” campaign. I still think he has a role on Everton moving forward, but a little Calvert-Lewin magic could mean they both feature if Nasty Niasse does indeed miss one or two matches.
  • Morata is the melted wax seal on my love letter to the FPL gods – he’ll be nailed on my side until the GW28 fixture at Manchester United (February 24, aka set it and forget it until after the Super Bowl!) You can probably use him as your premier striker if you want to invest lots of funds into your MF.
  • Imagine if you’d just left the C armband on Lukaku since GW 1. He’s only hit double digits twice all season (GW1 and GW5), but man the points just trickle in no matter what for the Belgian and I absolutely hate it. Pogba’s return means he’ll keep lucking into a goal or an assist most matches, especially versus the lesser sides; their next 6 matches go a little something like this: Brighton (H), Watford (A), Arsenal (A), Man City (H), Bournemouth (H), West Brom (A). If you don’t have him on your team, the argument to bring him in for Kane or Aguero is definitely there, but GW15 and 16 would be when I would not look to Kaku as your Captain option.

  • The King of Mo Town does it again, hammering two home for Liverpool versus Southampton on Saturday. Salah is absolutely the most in form player in the league, and I look forward to the weekend matchup at Anfield versus Chelsea. Obviously this will be a huge test for the Merseyside, and while I probably don’t have the guts to captain Salah again against Chelsea, you woudn’t be crazy to leave the C armband on him in a week devoid of clear-cut captain options.
  • Richarlison, Gross and Choupo-Moting:  own at least two of them or just quit playing.
  • Hazard is flying high again, but is he worth the price? With Chelsea’s upcoming fixture-fest, he probably is about as close to a sure thing for guaranteed minutes and returns, but I’d still rather have Morata, Fabregas and Chelsea Defender/Courtois for the money.
  • Pogba is the most important attacking player on Manchester United, and while I know Jose Mourinho will need him for every match, you have to think his biggest concern will be to keep him healthy until Champions league enters the knockout stages (these fall between GW 27-28 and GW 29-31. Pogba absolutely has great value while priced at £8.0m, as he remains cheaper than any of the big Man City MFs and will definitely feast against poor defensive teams; just be warned he might not always go the full 90 as Mourinho will very carefully manage his overall fitness.
  • Will Hughes could end up being an absolute gem of a 5th MF. Only 22 years old, he’s now started back to back matches and managed a goal and assist versus a hemorrhaging Hammers defense. Away to Newcastle next week is great time to introduce him, but I will be looking to replace Tom Carroll with Hughes come GW16 when Watford faces away to Burnley, followed by Crystal Palace (A), Huddersfield (H), Brighton (A), Leicester (H) and Swansea (H) to end the 2017 portion of the year.

  • Another week, another clean for Burnley! Unbelievable that I’ve been pumping them for what feels like over a month and yet I still do not have any of their defenders. Next fixtures are still promising: Arsenal (H), Bournemouth (A), Leicester (A), Watford (H), Stoke (H), Brighton (A). Definitely could see the Gunners not playing their best match on the heels of a huge NLD win because Arsenal is always bound to drop points right as it looks like they are in form. Go grab Mee, Ward, Lowton, Tarkowski or Pope!
  • Kompany played a full 90 minutes for the first time since GW3 with Otamendi sidelined due to his yellow card accumulation (5 on the year, sheesh). Now John Stones is injured, so Kompany will likely remain in the starting lineup for the foreseeable future, but I prefer the Argentine to the Belgian if I were looking to keep one city defender.
  • Zeegelaar on Watford gets a shout for picking up 2 Bonus points in his first game of the season, a clean sheet. He also got an Andy Carroll elbow to his nose within the first minute of the match. I have no idea if he will continue to feature in their starting XI with Kiko Femenia hurting, but Marco Silva is plugging in defenders all over the place and it’s working. Kudos to you, Marvin!
