With time short in both this week and the season, we get right to the meat and potatoes. Rankings will be fast and furious, as will the fantasy advice. Two weeks remain in the season and with the double game week this week, it is almost the Mt. Everest of the FPL season. So my transfer advice will be included in the intro to the rankings this week. Find a differential if they possibly exist, watch out for possible rotations, and don not bring in anyone with a single game week. I mean that all sounds simple and well and good from a fan of my writings so heed my advice this week. Stick to your guns with player favorability, and do not be afraid to take a minus to bring in a DGW player at the expense of a -4. The rationale behind that is that if a player does nothing but play minute you break even. So anything they may do, or are expected to do that adds to their point total is money in your bank. Not really but you get the idea. So on to the ranks as the games start Friday, and they don’t stop until next Thursday. Should be fun if you are into the whole soccer/football thing. Good luck this week. Cheers! Please, blog, may I have some more?
The DGW makes rankings seem like a person who has a stutter. Every third guy is from the same team, and are basically only enticing because of the extra fixture. This week, that is not the case. The fixtures are bordering on blah and the options to gain fantasy aptitude are limited. Yea the Palace players seem interesting and then you realize their opponents. Then you move onto United and realize that, who do you really trust there? Then you have Middlesbrough who’s favorite soccer stylings seems to be stuck in neutral. Not very appealing my friends, like I said. The best case scenario for the week is to take a minimum hit transfer wise and bring in the usual DGW faces that you hear about all over the inter-webs, and of course use some of that good ole common sense. So good luck with transfer ideas and enjoy some DGW rankings for week 34 of the FPL. Cheers! Please, blog, may I have some more?
The conclusion of the third match-week in less than 10 days is always fun for me because it actually allows me to do nothing with my life but rank, write, and then write some more. I do it all for the love people. So the one thing that jumped out to me for this week is that there might be a bit of rotation coming up for a few teams. Most notably Chelsea, and at least for this week, Leicester. Chelsea is basically 2-3 wins away from clinching the league title outright and may just start tinkering with their roster just enough to make it fantasy hell for everyone. So don’t be all surprised when it happens, Uncle Smokey told ya so. The second team is Leicester, who have a more important game in the Champions League coming midweek. Now they seem to be sorta safe from relegation and that tournament is way more important to them right now. Once again, I hope they don’t take Vardy or any useful pieces away, but anything can happen in FPL. Enjoy the Week 32 rankings and comments are always solicited. Yikes folks, three-game weeks in 10 days and if you don’t have the need for adult diapers, now may be the time. Excitement personified! This is the last stretch run of games that come in succession like this for the rest of the year, and if you are big proponent of taking a minus and not having it affect you this is the time. I say that because if you simply take a minus a week for the next 3 and set yourself up with one player for the week, and one for the DGW in 34 w/ United, Soton, and Palace… you will be ahead of the game and hold onto that coveted wildcard for the better looking DGW fixtures after Week 34. But what the heck do I know? Enjoy the week. Happy transferring and here are the Week 30 FPL rankings for all positions. Cheers! Please, blog, may I have some more?
I hate the build-up and then let down of the one week play, and then the following week off for International duty. The only thing the extra time creates is itchy trigger fingers, injuries and usually more questions left unanswered then answered. So with Week 29 upon us now, the advice of this advocate is to stay firm, bring in the minimum transfers and go to battle with what you have. The week after is when we attack the WC consideration. We will have a better idea of who plays where and when. So rest on your laurels good friends, and just enjoy this week’s rankings for FPL Week 29. Cheers! Please, blog, may I have some more?
This month is like a whirlwind covered in toasted almonds. Three match weeks in 8 days, and it only gets worse here after for the Smoke Dawg. With matches upcoming for Boxing Day and thereafter, there won’t be a day off starting that game week until January 4th. That;s right that is like 9 days of consecutive football. So let’s not get ahead of ourselves and concentrate on 17 and let 18-20 figure it out. As always, the rankings are based on the metric of form, fixture, and sense. So for you following at home, that would be FFS. And when something goes wrong, that is what we can blame and then shout what FFS actually means at someone close to you. Not at me, though I probably deserve it. Here are some rankings for FPL Week 17. Cheers! Please, blog, may I have some more?
Can you imaging playing any sport, real or fake, without a stout backbone? No, you just can’t. It would be impossible and your team would just fall to the ground like a pile of gelatinous goo. The Keepers and Defense ranks are no different. Without some semblance of structure, promise, and talent, you will be a pile of fantasy goo at the bottom of the ranks. Take a look at the transfers in and out this week. The must have defenders are starting to shine, and from my vantage point you should start your back five with a Liverpool, a Chelsea, and a Southampton defender of your equitable suiting. There is no wrong answer here just what ever fits into your budget and common sense choice. So think about that next time you go to make a transfer in or out to pump up your last line of defense. So with that and all the other hullabaloo here is the Week 14 FPL rankings for Keepers and Defense. Cheers! Please, blog, may I have some more?
Every now and again, I enjoy a good change. I usually lump the rankings together in one useful and worthwhile post. This week, I am going back to the old “stand me” by breaking down the rankings between the back-enders and the glory riders (midfielders and forwards). I thought no one would mind, because if you minded you would have told me long before now that you did and I would have proactively done what you asked. Smokey is a people pleaser! The Defense and Keeper ranks are the fantasy wheelchair to the other positions being the backbone. The clean sheet monsters are just that, clean sheet driven. Their sole purpose and most points given are based from that… Granted, I get that some instances arise where people go off and have goals, assists, or a large number of saves to add to their fantasy bounty. But that is few and far between, so let’s just stick to the chalk here and get down to the Fantasy Premier league Rankings for Keepers and Defense. Cheers! Please, blog, may I have some more?
The whole point of this ranking exercise is to get you, me, and the strange guy eating a portobello sandwich at the bus stop on the same page. The techniques for ranking teams, keepers, and defense is narrowed down to two key factors: Those factors aren’t new by any stretch of the imagination and haven’t changed in the years that I have been partaking in this fabulous game. The things to hone your skills on every week are form, and clean sheet predictability. Yeah, other things matter, like their favorite color… mine is Robin’s egg blue if you were wondering, but for the official game, it’s like making the same breakfast everyday for 38 weeks and enjoying the outcomes. So when you are analyzing who to roster or transfer in/out; look for those two things. So with Week 3 upon us and some mid-week cup action to either give us light or make it completely shaded we take you to the rankings for keepers and defense. Please, blog, may I have some more?
