BOOYA! Week 23 is here my loyal 13 readers. That’s right we picked up a new reader just yesterday. So we’re onto a bakers dozen. I know, shocking! Let’s just all enjoy it until he figures out this isn’t a cooking blog. Aaaannnnnd we lost him…good riddance that’s what I say. As for things of actual importance like the games, and players in them, we got you. Even though the large majority of my thoughts are with my beloved Patriots and the upcoming Futbol Americano Super Bowl. I found the time to carve out a little bit of study into the upcoming matches, and have put together my players to watch and all the happy horse shizz I do on a weekly basis. The fixtures are strong this week for the home sides with several of the top homebodies drawing plush matchups against inferior road competition. We also have a showdown between the top two clubs in Chelsea and Manchester City, as they continue to battle for the poll position in the table. This match will have major ripple effects in the title race, as Chelsea find themselves 5 points up with the ability to create a near three game advantage. The only other top notch fixture on the docket this week looks to be Liverpool and West Ham. Each club finds themselves on the cusp of the race for the top four. Liverpool is a team on the up swing as they’ve reeled off a record of 4-1-0 over their last five. With top striker Daniel Sturridge returning to the squad there’s optimism abound at Anfield. West Ham on the other hand is looking to regain form as they return striker Diafra Sakho to the lineup. No matter what the results are in the 10 fixtures, it’s sure to be another enjoyable weekend of footie. Matchweek Preview, Week 23, enjoy.

One last thing…..GO PATS!

Player To Watch – I could have put Ahmed Elmohamady here again for a 3rd straight week or something, but what fun is that. I’m watching McGregor because there’s nothing worth watching in front of him. I’d call Hull a Butta-Face but that might be too strong a compliment.

Player To Watch – Colback is an easily forgotten fantasy option. I’m not sure if it’s the fact that he’s a central midfielder or if it’s because he’s a ginger. Probably because he’s a ginger. Regardless of him lacking a soul like all gingers he still managed to be a pretty useful fantasy option the last 7 weeks. Over that time he’s scored 2 goals to go along with 3 assists. Not bad when you consider he’s a deep lying midfielder on a mediocre team. Did I mention he’s also a ginger?

Player To Watch – We here at Razzból FC are all in on Puncheon this week, and why not? He’s been awesome scoring in back to back weeks and we’ve spoke in the past about his long history with Pardew. His form rating is 8 and he’ll only cost you 6 pence over a nickel. Heck I bought him as my plug off the bench when Alexis sits this week. I may even keep the little bugger around after I use my wildcard next week.

Player To Watch – His form rating would be a lot higher if wasn’t for that meddling Kevin Mirallas. He went full rover in matchweek 22, snatched the ball, ignored all of his teammates including Baines, and preceeded to botch the PK. Nice work Mirallas, I hope you get bought by Spurs and never get used a la David Bentley. As a Baines owner it was extremely frustrating watching it play out live knowing Leighton would have buried the kick. Well not to worry Baines was bestowed PK duties for the rest of the season.

Player To Watch – He’s back! He’s back! He’s back! I feel like this is exactly what every Liverpool fan in the world is thinking leading up to today’s match. I have no idea if Sturridge will start, most think he won’t. If he does I’m predicting a goal in his return.

Player To Watch – Sakho is back and ready to go. He was a revelation earlier this term and I would not be shocked to see him return to form in the remaining 16. Especially as the Hammers make a push for Europe. This is another option I’m watching closely as a potential buy with my wildcard next week.

Man Utd Leicester

Player To Watch – The news of Alexis’ injury broke only hours after my midfielder rankings posted. My bold placing of Di María at two turned into my utterly insane ranking of Di María at 1. I grew up in the era of the Ruff Ryders, and I’m East Coast through and through, so I’m a ride or die type. I’m either bragging for a month about this stroke of genius, or going down with my ship like any true Captain worth his weight in nautical rope.

Player To Watch – Anyone ever seen Wayne’s World? What am I even asking for? You all have! You know the scene where they’re in front of the green screen? After going through numerous exciting places they end up in Delaware, to which Wayne says “Hi We’re in Delaware”. That’s how I feel about Leicester players not named Riyad Mahrez. As for Nugent he’s nothing special and at best he’s the second coolest Nugent behind this guy…But he has a goal and an assist in the last 4. Good enough for me! You’re hired!

Stoke QPR

Stoke City

Goals Scored Last 5 Matches: 5

Goals Against Last 5 Matches: 4

Player To Watch – Two reasons I’m watching Diouf, Reason 1. Someone needs to step up to score for the Potters now that Bojan is out for the year. Reason 2. I’m watching to see if all the players returning from AFCON are in the lineup are not.

Mame Biram Diouf 62 £6.1 0.7 0.1

QPR

Goals Scored Last 5 Matches: 3

Goals Against Last 5 Matches: 7

Player To Watch – If QPR is going to finally win a road game it’s going to come down to two things. The right foot of Charlie Austin and a top notch performance from Rob Green. It’s completely possible against a Stoke squad light on attacking options.

Player To Watch – I’m a huge champion of Defoe rest of season. The man is 14th on the all-time Premier League scorers list for a reason. He knows how to finish and he always has. He also stepped right in and was instantly the Black Cats best attacking threat.

Player To Watch – Mr. Late Game Heroics, Mr. Final 20, Mr. Steal Ya Girl. Yeah the last one doesn’t fit, but maybe who knows? He’s been finding form of late, had a brace in Tottenham’s Capital One Cup Semi on Wednesday, and his kryptonite Nacer Chadli could miss this one.

Player To Watch – With Diego Costa deciding to kick the Can, and in turn getting a three match ban, Jose needs a plan. I think he turns to the legend, the myth, the man….Drogba. That’s my Drogba Freestyle…masked avengers….Check it Yo! I’d give Drogba the nod over Remy but we shall see.

Player To Watch – It’s all about the old dogs in today’s main event. The Ghosts of Blues past are going to rule at the Bridge, and I fully expect Frank to be in the starting XI. He claims he won’t celebrate should he score this afternoon. Class act through and through that Lampard.

Player To Watch – What can I say I’m a sucker for an out of form world class player…Right Angel? Anywho I’m watching Özil like a hawk cyclops with a monacle. Did I just take Grey’s jargon to a whole nutha level? I think I did. But seriously Özil has been a great player and as I said in yesterday’s Start’Em, Sit’Em it was not too long ago. There’s plenty of fire power in the Gunners lineup even sans Alexis.

Player To Watch – I have no idea if he’ll be active or not on Sunday, but if he is there’s a chance he actually gets to play football. Which is something he hasn’t done since City bought him from Swansea and never player him. As much as Sinclair might interest me his girlfriend Helen Flanagan interests me more. Seriously ERMAHGERD.

Player To Watch – He’s in a five match goal drought and he’s sure to breakout of it sooner rather than later. The Swans on the road present a great opportunity to get one off the good foot. See what I did there? (Shakes head no) I meant he was going to score…it’s a joke….not funny…yup.
