With 22 weeks in the books and 16 more to go, we in many ways find ourselves at the crossroads of the season. We have a few weeks left to use our January wild card so it’s time to start our rest of season planning. This is where things can get tricky, we’re still a week away from January Transfer deadline day and no one can predict injuries. Michael Owens scoffs at my last statement “I predicted my last two dozen injuries”. Oh sorry Michael…”It’s okay, go on”. Anyway, what I was getting at is schedule is the only rest of season factor we can predict with some certainty. So what we’ve done is put together a chart listing each club’s remaining matches with each fixture highlighted red, yellow, or green depending upon the caliber of that particular opponent. Our system of ranking is based off applying a value to each road win (5 points), home win (4 points), draw (3 points), road loss (2 points), and home loss (1 point). We then separated out the home totals and road totals and divided each by the number of games each club had played at home/road. This in the end, gave us an average point total for home and road fixtures. In the coming days we’ll use this chart, dubbed our FPL Schedule Ranker as a measuring stick to look at potential booms and busts over the next 16 weeks. Smokey will also be using some of the data here in his big Wildcard post coming Monday. So the long and the short of it, stay tuned. Over the coming weeks my goal is to update this chart every few weeks rest of season to reflect form. Enjoy!
