Every week I run down the weekly match-ups of all the matches on the slate and rank them based on price, ownership, and matches.  I then coagulate those in a high powered juice-maker of FPL proportions and come up with rankings for the week.  Sounds pretty cut and dry, and with this being Week 1, it becomes harder to rank because we only know what we know. And don’t know what we know, besides knowing what we don’t know.  There is no pattern, and it is all speculation.  So this separates the guessers from the experts in some form.  So feel free to critique, give me guff, or just stop on in to pat me on the back.  The season is here, and here starts the first rankings of Week 2.  Cheers!

It’s Tuesday.  It means knee jerk reactions and total punting for Week 2 of the FPL season.   I am truly only half-kidding, but people involved in the chase gonna chase regardless.  Especially with the first few price changes in the books already.  Everyone wants that shiny new bargain toy for a penny cheaper then they just had it.  So with the first Transfer Tuesday post of the year, Smokey is here to guide you down the trail of transfer ideas that may be a little off beat or because I am seeing something that you didn’t.  Four eyes are better than two, especially when people who are making transfers this early in the week, and making the market climb on a Tuesday.  I don’t get it, but people get nervous and make irrational decisions, messing it up for everyone else.  So while we live the rational transfer life, here are some transfer ideas for maybe a few days down the road to set yourself up for next week’s set of matches.  Cheers!

We’re once again giving you our loves and hates for each week in a segment called “Start ‘Em and Sit ‘Em”.  You should know the drill, but if you don’t, we pick one option from each position.  Pretty cut and dry, and quite simply… basic.  It is more based on my feelings and gut approach for the week’s upcoming and changes from week-to-week.  I look at match-ups and form to formulate my craziness.  It’s like musical chairs, without all the screaming kids and regretful feeling of loss. So sit back, relax, and have a look at who we would start and sit based on match-ups and value. It’s Fantasy Premier League Start ‘Em, Sit ‘Em, Week 1 (plus a sleeper/under-owned fella that should be owned and isn’t).

If this is your first time here, then welcome.  But for those of you that know the gist of this intro, skip down and add your comments. Wednesdays from now on are the day when we let nothing hide between friends. It is fairly simple: I will show you my team for the next three Wednesday’s leading up to the start of the season. I do expect that if you read this and that, you’ll do the exact same thing, because two heads are better than one, and 10 is even better. Get it? Cool. So this is draft number six on the year for me so far, the others were more fiddling out of boredom, but now we are starting to see news out and about pertaining to certain teams formations, transfers, and injury updates. So enjoy this early look at Smokey’s team and critique away, because I prolly deserve to be slandered for my thoughts and team selection. Cheers!

A good defense, is the best offense.  I wish I was the brilliance behind that statement, but it was definitely said by someone smarter than me, well… not smarter, just older.  So they had the chance to say it first, there, that makes my OCD feel better.  Setting yourself up for the first 6-8 weeks of the year is always a keen thing to do.  The chart in this feature will give you the tool to look at the match-ups as they sit now and how they are favorable or not.  It works in the stop light fashion. Green means go for it, Yellow means caution, and red is obviously a warning sign.  It is still preseason though, so making presumptions is always a dangerous game.  By game week 3, we should know who is nodded on and who isn’t.  Also, that is when the summer transfer window shuts so it is a what you see is what you get kinda deal.  So enjoy the chart and I hope it helps in your selection process.  Cheers!
