Anyone remember the days of yore when the uproar and hoot-nannying was out of control over his transfer fee.  Well if you are a footie fan the Neymar deal with PSG has put that monster under your bed to rest.  this year seemed like a perpetual record transfer fee for each team in the Premier…and likely so the market has gone past us and the money with TV and such rules the world.  Lost in all of this fuss is that Paul Pogba is a good football player, and a growing to be a better fantasy asset for the Red Devils this year.  And they Aren’t even done spending on talent to surround the superstars on their team with more superstars.  So what can Paul Pogba do for you this year in the official game that he didn’t do last year at the glorified nature of his being with all the hype and none of the fantasy booty.  His price is cheaper than last year’s end price and I am here to learn you something about him for the official game this year.  Stay tuned, your midfield will have one locked in starter for week one after the bump.  Cheers!

Everyone loves a marketable name.  So why not have one on your fantasy team from the start of the year.  Manchester United has all the weapons at it’s disposal to have a ton of assets at every level of position available, from the keeper to the Lukaku.  Somewhere in between lies Pogba.  Last year he had an underwhelming display of actual fantasy points, 115 in 2600 minutes.  Not awful but not great by name recognition.  I am going to tell you that he will be closer to 200 this year rather than where he was last year.  the goals are going to rise, the assists are going to rise.  How do I know this?  One name, Nemanja Matic.  Period.  End quotes.  Shut down the circus.  Matic will allow Pogba full reign of moving forward and be more of the facilitator and part-time scorer.

So with Matic in play to back-up PP that allows him to extrapolate on his goal and assist total from last year.  which was a paltry 5 goals and only 4 assists.  if he gets 4 more goals and 2 more assists it will vault him into the top 10 in scoring midfielders.  Add more on to those numbers, just a few and the BPS will reward him even more and he will easily be in the top 8.  Jump up further and he could be squarely settled into the top 5 with just 1 more goal and one more assist.  I am not predicting the moon here I am just trying to predict small gains on a phenominal talent on the pitch.  A few goals here and a smattering of assists there.  Fantasy prediction: 9 goals, 7 assists 185 points

As a United fan, I think this analysis will hold true.
Pogba also hit the woodwork 6 or 7 times last year, second only to Kevin Dirty Blue.
And if United had not squandered so many chances, he could have had double digit assists easily.

@EnglishMetsFan: I am banking on it as he is in my draft team right now. All bets are off until the shield game in Sunday. Go blues!!!!

  2. So I’m jiving on all you said here, but merely 8 days ago in “I’ll show you mine-you show me yours” Part 1, I shared my XI and I had Pogba and you shot it down saying “Poignant improves but not by that much his game is not an official game type style. If you are going to tweak it would be there.” I’ll assume your autocorrect turned Pogba in Poignant and you were too tired from writing all your extensive soccer columns (for which we are eternally grateful) to give a Fuchs. You just trying to throw me off the scent here? I hate United but think he’s in a great situation to take a big step forward fantasy wise.

@VonHayes: the Matic signing completely swayed me. Def not trying to throw you off the scent. I’m here in an advisory role at all times. Thanks for the read and support.
